  What was your turning point?

  what was it that was the real eye opener for you?.

  for me, it was after watching the video, "jehovah's witnesses; a non-prophet organization," and the point on how the org puts itself in a place between jesus and mankind.

  a position which does not exist scripturally.

  Seeing a particular member of the cong. Democratically D'flw, not Theocratically..!..(Get rid of a problem, not deal with it)

  Then as the years rolled by, far too many instances of hypocrisy, favouritism, disunity, emotional blackmail, and damn right dishonesty within the cong. itself.

  Finding out about the UN association.

  Then the night they announced the org was to be a registered charity....Tax evading so and so's...and all the false reasoning that went along with this....'pay ceasars things to ceasar'...Yeah,right!

  Would Jesus shun anyone?

  i can't imagine jesus shunning anyone.

  on the contrary, he went towards those who needed help the most.

  if the jw's followed jesus footsteps, they wouldn't shun.

  Yeah your right there....Its just that the Shunning business is so damaging, to call it an act of love is just laughable. If a D'flw person goes to a meeting in the KH..(as they're entitled). How the hell can someone refuse to say hello to another human being, in the house of God???!! If anyone 'new' is visiting the KH themselves at that time, picks up on this, what message is it sending to them? The words Disfellowshipped and Apostate are two very powerful, and covenient words that that the org have used to suit their needs.

  One of the last meetings I went to a D'flw women was attending, and sitting in the back room with the rest of the 'reprobates'..(as you are made to feel). After the meeting, an elder that was new to the congregation made a move to say Hello to this woman, not realizing her position. She politely told him who she was, and the situation. The look on the elders face changed instantly, and he turned away and carried on being Bro''Love' to the rest of the cong. It turned my stomach. This is shunning of the most despicable nature. It is just so rude! Surely, if anybody, an elder could have just said.'its good you're here...' sort of thing....Jesus didnt shun anyone, as there is nothing positive to be gained. The opposite action would have far more of a positive effect, wouldnt it?

  Remember the good Samaritan story...

  Now, what if a situation arises where a D'flwsp individual is a victim of an assault in the street, or involved in a traffic incident. The next person to arrive at that scene is a current Jw...what do they do...walk past the injured party because it is a way of showing love?...to make them realize their mistake of turning from their 'brothers'!!!

  I Can Feel A "QuickBuild" Comin' On...

  after several years as a pile of rubble, it looks like the austinmer/bulli kh is finally being rebuilt (it was destroyed by fire).

  as we went past it this (saturday) morning, it was apparent that laying the foundations of another hall was more interesting than field service to quite a number of local dubs.

  i noticed that the work was in progress at least a month ago.. i wonder if, after several years waiting for council approval for the rebuild, and a few months of preparatory work, that the dubs will have the hide to call it a "quick" build!

  How did you brutally destroy your WT publications?

  the only wt publication i brutally destroyed was a brand new copy of the revalation book.

  i was so frustrated with the religion that i ripped the goddam thing into a hundred pieces.

  it was a great way to take my anger out on it.. years later when i was dating this one girl, she had a copy of that same stupid book.

  I took hundreds in cardboard boxes to the recyling plant. There they had a bin for paper etc...I thought it was the only proper way to do it. I could never really understant the idea of keeping hold of hundreds of mags etc, for future reference. I also found it weired that a business could produce so much paper material, and have no arrangement for recycling....oh yeah, probably to do with the fact that they are a multi-million dollar Profit company...!

  How did 1975 affect you?

  i lived thru the 1975 fiasco.

  many here did too.. on another board there was discussion about the way the congregations were before 1975. some thought that they were like small country churches in some ways.

  we did our own work on repairs at the kingdom hall, like a family.

  Like a lot of others..that was the year that my single parent, vulnerable mother, with 3 young children, was reeled into the whole affair...at such a young age, I was not to realize the pain and suffering we would all experience as the years ticked by....Fond memories?...nope!

  tiny little exeter city's part-time squad will take on mighty manchester united tonight in the replay of the fa cup 4th round.. personally, i don't think that they have a prayer, especially as man u are going to be fielding their best available team.

  i'd love to see exeter city pull something out of the hat though.

  What's your favourite site for downloading music?

  i use mirc to download music.

  i just changed computer and re installed mirc, and now it costs 20$ for a year.

  not expensive, but it was free before.. where do you go to download music on the net?

  i don' pray anymore because nothing happens no matter what i ask.

  ask for money, you won't get it because everyone wants money and it displeases god.. .

  Hear Hear eyeslice...It is something that always troubled me. The selfishness of a JW's prayer..help US...lead US forgive US...give US your spirit..etc..etc

  I like to Thank God..for the miracle of life I can experience, however troublesome. For forgiveness, as I am a worthless peice of Poop, and for mercy!....( I spent too long waiting for that shiney red bike that never did appear)
